Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
1. The Command: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart”
2. The Warning: “Lean not on your own understanding”
Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
3. The Action: “In all your ways submit to him”
“All your ways” is comprehensive. This includes:
• Major decisions — marriage, career, relocation, children
• Daily routines — how you spend your time, money, and words
• Hidden areas — thoughts, motives, secret habits
• Relationships — how you treat your spouse, children, coworkers, and enemies
• Finances, health, entertainment, ambitions
4. The Promise: “And he will make your paths straight”
• Jeremiah 29:11 — Plans to prosper you and give you hope and a future.
• Psalm 37:5 — “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.”
• Romans 8:28 — God works all things for the good of those who love Him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we repent of our self-reliance. We lay down our pride, our plans, and our limited
understanding. We choose today to trust You fully. Invade every area of our lives. Make our paths straight for Your glory and our good. We love You. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
