Memory Verse – Galatians 4:6 – “And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, ‘Abba Father'”
JULY 16 – MIDWEEK SERVICE WEDNESDAY – “What Happens When the Holy Spirit Enters You”- Pt 1
1. REGENERATES YOU– BORN AGAIN
Genesis 3:15-17 The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. But the Lord God
warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— except the tree of the knowledge of good and
evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”
John 3:3 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
2 Cor 5:17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new creation/person. The old life is gone;
a new life has begun!
Galatians 6:15 It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been
transformed into a new creation.
Colossians 2:13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive
together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses.
2. SEALS YOU – YOU CAN FEEL SECURE IN YOUR SALVATION
Ephesians 1:13-14 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your
salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit. The Spirit is God’s
guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did
this so we would praise and glorify him.
Galatians 4:6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call
out, “Abba, Father.”
3. YOU BEGIN TO GROW STRONGER AGAINST SINFUL CRAVINGS
Ezekiel 36:26-27 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony,
stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my
decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.
Galatians 6:16-17 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature
craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us
desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so
you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
Galatians 5:24-25 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his
cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our
lives.
