Memory Verse – 1Thessalonians 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”

Midweek Message – 11.5.25 – “Gratitude” – Pastor asks us to start each day praising God… Thank you, Lord, for all you do in my life. In all circumstances, give thanks. Psalm 50:23 says, “He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifies Me”.

Thessalonians 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1. Gratitude opens the door to God’s presence and allows us to approach Him with praise Psalm 100:4 Enter his
gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

2. Thanksgiving shifts our focus from problems to God, transforming our prayers into worship (Psalm 95:2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.).

3. Gratitude fosters intimacy with God as we recognize His hand in every aspect of our lives James 4:8a Come near to God and he will come near to you.

4. David constantly praised and thanked God, leading to a close relationship with Him and God’s favor in his life
Psalm 103:1-5 –
Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,

who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

5. When we present our requests with thanksgiving, God replaces our anxiety with His peace Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

6. Gratitude lifts our focus above our challenges and fills us with joy Habakkuk 3:17-18 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

7. Grateful hearts lead to contentment, dispelling stress and bitterness Proverbs 17:22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

8. Gratitude nurtures a joy that is not dependent on circumstances but is rooted in God’s goodness 1 Peter 1:8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.

9. Paul and Silas sang praises in prison despite their suffering, resulting in an outpouring of God’s power and joy
Acts 16:25-26  About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were
listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the
prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.

Luke 17:11-19 While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee. As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him; and they raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” When He saw them, He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they were going, they were cleansed. Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine— where are they? Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?”  And He saidto him, “Stand up and go; your faith has made you well.”

November – Voice of the Martyrs Ministry (VOM) is a missionary organization that serves persecuted Christians in the world’s most difficult and dangerous places to be a Christian. Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand founded VOM after being imprisoned for their Christian witness in Communist Romania. For more than 50 years, VOM has been dedicated to inspiring all believers to a biblical faith by encouraging their commitment to Christ and the fulfillment of his Great Commission no matter the cost.
The Voice of the Martyrs continues this mission around the world today through the following purposes:

  1. To encourage and empower Christians to fulfill the Great Commission in areas of the world where they are persecuted for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  2. To provide practical relief and spiritual support to the families of Christian martyrs.
  3. To equip persecuted Christians to love and win to Christ those who are opposed to the gospel in their part of the world.
  4. To undertake projects of encouragement, helping believers rebuild their lives and Christian witness in countries where they have formerly suffered oppression.
  5. To promote the fellowship of all believers by informing the world of the faith and courage of persecuted Christians, thereby inspiring believers to a deeper level of commitment to Christ and involvement in His Great Commission.
